NORMAN LOUIS DEAN WENDELL - Norman Louis Dean, 66, of 2300 Eagle Rock Road, died early Monday morning, December 6, 1999 after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was born September 3, 1933 in Wendell. His parents were Grace Talton and Graham Dean. He was affiliated for many years with Graham Dean and Son and Northside Tobacco Warehouse and in the last 12 years worked in real estate. He was active in the community serving on the Wendell Town Board and serving as Mayor-Protem of Wendell. He served fire chief of the Wendell Holmes Fire Department and was instrumental in the forming of Wendell Rescue Squad, the first volunteer squad in Wake County, serving many years as Chief. He was also instrumental in the formation of many of the other volunteer rescue squads of Wake County. He was recognized by Governor Jim Hunt in 1983 as one of North Carolina Volunteers of the year.
