Born in Southampton County, she was a member of Briar Lake Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence F. Hurst of Doraville, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Edward Neave of Ivor, Mrs. S.B. Sheffield Jr. of Waverly, and Mrs. David Brown of Greensboro, N.C.; a stepson, John C. Raiford of Alexandria; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral [memorial celebration] will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday [10 February 1983] in Purviance Funeral Home chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Lytle Buckingham and the Rev. Cafer Marley.
