James Grover (Jimmy) Eichelberger 15 JUL 1941 - 10 OCT 2017 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Honorable James Grover “Jimmy” Eichelberger, 76, beloved husband of Karon Ann McKnight Eichelberger and resident of Parksley, VA, passed away on Tuesday October 10, 2017 in Boston, MA, while enjoying a cruise with his wife and friends. Jimmy was the current Mayor of Parksley, where he had previously served as a Town Councilman. Born July 15, 1941 in Newport News, VA, he was the only child born to the late John Alvin Eichelberger and Olive Inez Blanchard Eichelberger. Jimmy served his country in the United States Navy, retired as Environmental Manager with Perdue Farms, Inc., and remained extremely active in his community. His current memberships and activities include: Central Lodge #300, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite Bodies; Eastern Shore Shrine Club of Boumi Shriners; American Legion Post #100, Parksley, VA; and the Eastern Shore Railway Museum Board of Directors. In addition to his loving wife of fifty-four years, survivors include his daughters, Margery E. Vaglio of Garner, NC, and Lara E. Wallace and her husband Todd, of Mappsville, VA; eight grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Eichelberger, Ryan James Eichelberger, Kristopher Allen Eichelberger, Taylor Renee Wallace, Robert James Vaglio, Addison Leigh Wallace, MacKenzie Byrd Wallace, and Hanna Grace Vaglio; and five great-grandchildren, Beckett, Madigan, Thatcher, James and Jude. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by a son, James G. “Jimbo” Eichelberger, Jr. A memorial service to celebrate his life, and including Masonic Rites, will be held at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
