Mary Farmer Obituary Mary Farmer Suffolk - Mary Farmer, 88, of Suffolk Virginia, beloved wife of the late James W. Farmer, died peacefully at home on December 19, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 18, 1926 in New York City, daughter of the late Angelo and Maughrita Gagliano. Left to cherish her memory is her son, James M. Farmer (Denise), and her three daughters, Rita Thomas (Fred), Jeanne Swain (Phil) and Maryann Jones (David). Four grandchildren, Jacqueline Stephenson (Craig), Joshua Hammond (Gillian), Max Thomas, and Zachary Jones (Melina); and a great-grandson, Colin Stephenson. One sister, Josephine DePolo and two brothers, Angelo Gagliano (Mary), Carmen Gagliano (Pat), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 50 years, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Leigh Farmer. Mary was an incredibly kind and generous person as well as a devoted Coast Guard wife. She adored life, as well as her family and friends. Mary was an active member of the Beazley Senior Center where she enjoyed painting, designing jewelry, and playing Mah Jong. A liturgy of the resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 518 High Street, Portsmouth, VA. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Leigh Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA. Internment will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 11:00am in Olive Branch Cemetery.
