Virginia F. Galtress December 14, 1923 - September 20, 2016 Franklin - Virginia Fowler Galtress, 92, widow of George Howard Galtress, Sr. passed away September 20, 2016 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was a daughter of the late Norfleet and Mattie Boyce Fowler. She was predeceased by three brothers, Floyd, Carroll and James Fowler and a sister, Barbara Forbes. Mrs. Galtress was a graduate of Carrsville High school and retired from the ASCS office in Isle of Wight County and was a member of the Women s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 73. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class. Survivors include two sons, George H. Galtress, Jr. (Melinda) of Greenville, NC and William N. Galtress (Sue) of Martinsville, a sister, Jean F. Price of Richmond, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Bryan Vaughan of Franklin, two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Galtress and Amy Renee Agee (Shannon) and two great grandchildren, Cody and Madison Agee and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 2PM Friday September 23, 2016 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. The burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851.
