George Gay Obituary George Robert Gay, Jr. April 7, 1948 - June 6, 2014 Courtland- George Robert Gay, Jr., 66, passed away at home following a courageous battle with cancer June 6, 2014. He was a son of the late George Robert Gay, Sr. and Margaret Cook Gay Venters and was retired from Union Camp Corporation where he was a supervisor. George was a member of Courtland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His greatest joy came from serving the Lord, loving his family and helping others. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, Virginia Burton Gay; a daughter, Amy Gay of Franklin; a son, Burt Gay of Como, NC; two brothers, Barry Gay and his wife, Cindy, of Suffolk and Joe Humble and his wife, Olivia, of High Point, NC; sister-in-law, Karen Pierce and her husband Tommy, of Franklin; six grandchildren, Chandler Turner, Rob Gay, Mackenzie Ferguson, Mike Gay, Matthew Gay and Colby Gay. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Jean Brinkley, and a brother, Stevie Gay. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Amy, 22511 Harvest Dr., Franklin, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Courtland Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.
