Born in Brunswick County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Edward Spence and Runnie Edmonds Spence. She was also predeceased by a son, David Allen Gray. Elaine was a graduate of Brunswick Academy and was a former peanut grader for the Dept. of Agriculture. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, David Earl Gray; two sons, Edward E. Gray and Richard S. Gray; a daughter-in-law, Kristy S. Gray; seven grandchildren, Clayton Thomas Gray, Matthew David Gray, Joshua Finley, James Allen Gray, Terry Elizabeth Gray, Hannah Lynn Gray, and William Stuart Gray; and two great grandchildren. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2-4PM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be private in the Spence Family Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to CHKD or Disabled American Veterans.
