John Hansford Obituary

John Wayne Hansford, 74, a loving and devoted husband, father, Poppy and friend went to be with his Lord on July 20, 2022. He was the son of the late Pearl Opal and John Addicus Hansford. 

John was a veteran of the U. S. Army, 173rd Airborne Infantry, who served in the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and various other medals. He was a strong believer in Christ and had great influence on his family and friends by sharing his Christian values. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, family camping trips, and riding motorcycles. 

He is survived by his loving wife Peggy of 54 years; children Kimberly Barek and husband Karl, Lori Gay and husband Heath, and Nicholas Hansford and wife Stacie; grandchildren Isabella, Aidan, Janie, Olivia, Owen, and Emma; brother Michael Hansford and wife Darlene and sister Mary Hansford. 

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Please join the family at R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk VA on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 9 AM to process to the cemetery for the graveside service. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
