Born and raised in Adams Grove, he was a son of the late Joseph Bryant Harrell and Mattie Jarratt Harrell. He was also predeceased by his wife, Barbara Carter Harrell, and two brothers, Bryant Harrell and Walter Harrell. Freeman was a graduate of Jarratt High School and an Army veteran. He was the owner of Hunterdale Home Supply, Hunterdale Bowling Lanes and Hunterdale Mini Storage. Freeman was a member of Hunterdale Ruritan Club for 57 years and served as President. He was also a long-time member of the Southampton County Planning Commission. Freeman was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church and the Laymen’s fellowship. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. He enjoyed sharing his abundance of fruits and vegetables with others and creating furniture for loved ones and friends. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Betsy H. Kennedy (Walter) and Ann H. Cobb (Gardner); his partner for many years, Joyce Ann White; two sisters, Melissa Jackson and Virginia Mae Simmons; a brother, Dudley Harrell; and four grandchildren, Meredith and Aidan Kennedy and Mason and Sarah Cobb. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Hunterdale Christian Church. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
