FRANKLIN - Mark Andrew "Andy" Harrup Jr., 29, died June 7, 2006 in Merced County, Calif., in a boating accident. Born in Suffolk, he was the son of Mark Andrew and Linda Drewry Harrup. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Christopher Newport University. Andy was the golf coach for the undefeated Leland High School team in San Jose, Calif., and a substitute teacher in the school system.  

Surviving, in addition to his parents are his wife, Lisa Dardis Harrup and their son, Mark Andrew "Tre" Harrup, III of San Jose; two sisters, Jennifer H. Plude and husband, Ian, of Franklin and Frances Paige H. Duke and husband, Michael of Sedley; maternal grandparents, Samuel B. and Ola P. Drewry; one niece, Milana I. Plude; and three nephews, Tristan L. Plude, Aidan C. Plude and Wyatt B. Duke.  

Andy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph A. and Cleo B. Harrup.  

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday [8 July 2006] at Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Kitts officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mark Andrew Harrup, III memorial fund, c/o Bronco Federal Credit Union, 135 Stewart Drive, Franklin, VA 23851.
