Lois Heller Obituary Lois Schulz Heller was born on December 27, 1935, in Pierce, Nebraska to George and Grace Buckendahl Schulz. She was the second of six girls - sisters include, Leoma Fuelberth (Alton), Eileen Zierke (Rudy), JoAnn Kubik (Don), and Donna Zierke (Gary) all in Nebraska, and Jerilyn Wardlow in Norfolk, Virginia. She graduated from Pierce High School in 1953. In 1955 she married Dwain Heller (son of Louie and Minnie Heller) and raised two children, Kim (1962) and Kent (1964). They attended Zion Lutheran Church and School, and Lois sang in the church choir. She worked at the Pierce Telephone Company and upon retirement volunteered her time at the Pierce Senior Center. In 2012, she moved to Virginia to live with daughter, Kim and son-in-law, Steve Nichols. Lois' favorite pastimes included bowling, square dancing, line dancing, clogging, tennis, and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was an avid card and board game player and loved working on jigsaw and word search puzzles as well as online mahjong. She enjoyed traveling the U. S. and Internationally, as well as day / weekend trips spent with family and friends. In June, Lois was diagnosed with cancer. On Thursday, December 7, 2023, she passed away at home at the age of 87, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwain (1978); son, Kent (1988); sisters, Leoma Fuelberth and JoAnn Kubik. She is survived by daughter, Kim Nichols (Steve); grandson, Tyler Nichols (Amy); sisters, Eileen, Donna, and Jerilyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
