Griggs, 92, quietly passed away on March 2, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Gates County, North Carolina, she was a resident of Williamsburg since 1959. Sallie Sue was a longtime member of Williamsburg Baptist Church where she actively engaged with her church and its community. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was also a member of the Junior Women's Club and the Kingsmill Choral group. Sallie Sue was an avid gardener and loved having her hands in the dirt as she welcomed each season, especially the new beginnings of spring. As a self-taught cook, she leaves behind a legacy of hallmark dishes. Always dressed to the nines, Sallie Sue enjoyed bright, warm colors which matched her lovely personality and demeanor. She is survived by her sons L. Mark Griggs (Cheryl), Steve A. Griggs (Andree), Neil D. Griggs, and her daughter, Tricia L. Shallenberger (Jeff).
