Oma Joyner Obituary Oma Lee Parker Joyner July 14, 1933 - June 10, 2014 Oma Lee Parker Joyner, 80, died on June 10, 2014. She was born in Saint Brides, VA to Henry Eddie Parker and Annie Laura Lilly Parker. She was a resident of Franklin for 47 years. As a longtime member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, Oma Lee was a devoted Christian. She was an active member of her church circle group and the 39 s club. Oma Lee was a 1953 graduate of Louise Obici School of Nursing in Suffolk, VA. She worked for 28 years at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, VA, retiring as the operating room nurse manager in 1995. Oma Lee s joys in life included friends, family, reading, quilting, gardening, and watching the ocean waves. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor were always apparent when sharing a good joke. In addition to her parents, Oma Lee was predeceased by her daughter - Margaret Ann Joyner Cunningham; three brothers - Raymond Clarence Parker, Thomas Edgar Parker, and James Raleigh Parker; and two sisters - Annie Mary Parker Bunch and Lucy Ellen Parker. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, John Robert Joyner, Sr. of Franklin; daughter, Kay Ellen Joyner Drumheller (Mark) of Franklin; John Robert Joyner, Jr. (Ginny) of Midlothian; son-in-law, Kevin Dale Cunningham of Forest; grandchildren, Michael Jason Cunningham, Helen Parker Joyner, and Harrison Cole Drumheller. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 13th at 11:00am at Franklin Baptist Church. Interment will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
