Kwast Theodore Emil Kwast, 48, of route 2, Box 247, Benton Harbor, died at 5:10 p. m. Monday [29 Apr 1957] at Mercy hospital, Benton Harbor. In ill health since last November. Mr. Kwast had been a patient at the University hospital at Ann Arbor before entering Mercy hospital two weeks ago. For the past four years he had been employed machinist at the Whirlpool corporation. Mr. Kwast was born Aug. 16, 1908 in Benton Harbor. He is survived by his wife, the former Martha Gardner, whom he married April 6, 1935 in Suffolk, Va.; three children, Theodore E., Jr., Linda, and Terry, all at home, and his Mrs. Amelia Kwast of Eau Claire. Also surviving are four brothers, Gustav, of St. Joseph, Eugene, of Grand Rapids, Virgil, of Fremont, Mich., and William Gertz of Benton Harbor, and a sister, Mrs. Alma Herrman of Grand Rapids. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday [1 May 1957] at the Grace Lutheran church, Territorial rd., Benton Harbor, of which Mr. Kwast was a member. The church pastor, the Rev. Norman W. Berg, will officiate. Burial will be in Crystal Springs cemetery, Benton Harbor.
