Mrs. Evie Margaret Lamb, 77, of 2014 Queen Street, who died Monday in a Portsmouth hospital, will be buried today in Olive Branch Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p. m. at Cottage Place Methodist Church. The body will be taken to the church at 2 p. m. Mrs. Lamb was the widow of Willie R. Lamb, who was engaged for many years in the mercantile business in this city. She was the daughter of the late Robert N. and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Williams, natives of Southampton County, but she had had been a resident of Portsmouth for over 50 years. Mrs. Lamb is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harry C. Rudd, Mrs. Clifton C. Draper and Mrs. William P. Putnam, of Portsmouth; three sons, Maurice A., Chesley K. and Hurley Lamb, of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. J. L. Joyner, and brother, C. S. Williams, of Portsmouth; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The deceased was one of the oldest members of the Cottage Place Methodist Church, where she had been holding membership for nearly a half-century. She was well known and loved because she was interested and active in religious work and many social organizations. She was one of the oldest Gold Star Mothers of the American War Mother; past Pocahontas of Wahneta Council No. 17, Degree of Pocahontas; an honorary member of the American Legion, and was a member of Tidal Wave Chapter No. 9, Order of Eastern Star, and Rebekah Lodge No. 48.
