Born in Petersburg, raised in Wakefield, and a former resident of Greensboro, he was a son of the late Joseph Lawrence "Shorty" Long, Sr. and Lucy Mae Taylor Long. He was also predeceased by his sister, Alice Green. Larry was a 1964 graduate of Virginia Tech and was a retired screen printing sales representative. Left to cherish his memory is his two daughters, Tamara Holt "Tami" Long and Pamela Ann "Pam" Anderson both of Knightdale, NC; two grandchildren, Logan and Lainey Anderson; and his dearest best friend, Barbara Wade. A Memorial Service will be held at 4PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association.
