Earle C. Maxwell, 28, to be buried Thursday  

A funeral service for Earle Campbell Maxwell, 28, of Mathews County, who died Monday [18 February 1946] in a local hospital, will be held here at 2 P.M. Thursday at Bennett Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by the Rev. E.C. Pedrick, pastor of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and the Rev. George Ossman. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.  

The active pallbearers will be: A. Blake Cornthwaite, Gamble M. Bowers, Henry H. Riley Jr., Roderick D. Moore, Edgar I. Bostwick, and David C. Eanes.  

Mr. Maxwell, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Maxwell, a native of Baltimore, had spent most of his life in Richmond. He attended McGuire's University School and graduated from Virginia Military Institute in the class of 1939. He was first employed by the State Highway Department but since 1944 has made his home in Mathews County.  

Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Georgie Barrow Underwood of Charlotte, N.C.; his parents; one son, Edgar Campbell Maxwell Jr.; and three brothers: John Maxwell Jr., Edward Garrott Staley Maxwell, and Frederick B. Maxwell.
