Suffolk - Kathryn Garver Mounie, 86, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2016 in Maryview Hospital. 

Kathryn, was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Harry and Nell Garver and was the widow of John "Jack" R. Mounie, Jr. She was a retired teacher from Portsmouth Public Schools ending her thirty years of service at Churchland Junior High School. 

Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her joy came from being a coach's wife and wrestling mom. Later in life she found pleasure in the evolving lives of her expanding family. 

Survivors include her 3 sons, John T. "Tim" Mounie and wife Lori, Michael W. Mounie and wife Tracy, Christopher A. Mounie and wife Melissa; a sister, Marion Smith and a sister-in-law, Shirley M. Riehl. She was also a loving grandmother to Katelyn, Hope, Jaclyn, Susan, John and Daniel. As well as her loyal dog Lily. 

A graveside funeral will be held on Friday at 11AM Jan. 15, 2016 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 -8 PM on Thurs. Jan. 14, 2016 at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA. In honor of Kathryn's love for all creatures, Memorial donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society; P. O.
