Irene N. O'Meara 

CARRSVILLE – Irene Newsome O'Meara, 65, died May 20, 2010 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Roma W. and Oretha Cobb Newsome. Mrs. O'Meara was a graduate of Franklin High School and St. Paul College and was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Union Camp Corporation in 1999. 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Delbert E. O'Meara; her son, Kenneth I. Britt (Susan); granddaughter, Virginia D. Britt; four sisters, Audrey N. Padgett (Donald), Edna N. Butler (Marvin), Laura N. Stieh (J. E.) and Glenda N. Turner (Edward); and three brothers, Roland M. Newsome (Ryland), R. Wendell Newsome and Clayton C. Newsome (Joan). 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23 [2010], in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kitts officiating. Interment will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday [May 22 2010] at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society/Franklin-Southampton County Relay for Life, c/o Ms. Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Drive, Franklin, VA 23851.
