Clifton Lee (Cliff) Overby 27 NOV 1906 - 22 OCT 1997 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OVERBY Clifton Lee Overby, of Drewryville, 90, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died Wednesday, October 22, 1997 in an Emporia nursing home. His parents were the late Will and Romai Beale Overby. He was a member of Drewryville United Methodist Church and was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nellie Bailey Overby; two daughters, Barbara Sublett and her husband, Rayford and Shirley Leigh Overby, all of Drewryville; a granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Sublett, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; a brother, Leon Overby, Suffolk; three sisers, Edna Overby, Branchville, Mary Barnes, Newport News and Hazel Overby, Smithfield. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, 1997 in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Boykins, Va. by the Rev. P. Stovall. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 10147 Fortsville Rd., Drewryville.
