March 18, 1944 － March 21, 2023

Walters － Gwendolyn Hope Rhodes, 79, a life-long resident of Isle of Wight County, passed away March 21, 2023 in Riverside Healthy Living Community-Smithfield after a three year battle with Alzheimer‚Äôs Disease.  She was a daughter of the late James Curtis Rhodes and Jessie Stephens Rhodes.  Gwen was also predeceased by a great nephew, Ricky.

Gwen was a 1962 graduate of Windsor High School and attended Chowan College.  She was a retired social worker with Southampton County Social Services and had a passion for cooking, extensive traveling, and shopping.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Lynn R. Cofield and her husband Jimmy; a nephew, Jason Cofield (Kelly); a great niece, Amanda Fila (Brian); and two great great nephews, Luke and Nick Fila.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert F. Cofield officiating.  The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Colosse Baptist Church Building Fund.
