Rideout, 87, of Walter's Highway, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Daniel and Gertrude Collins Rideout and a brother, Daniel T. Rideout. Mr. Rideout's family owns the Holland-Rideout Funeral Home and Monument Co. and he worked for Franklin Concrete Products for 30 years. Mr. Rideout was a World War II veteran, a member of Woodmen of the World Holly Lodge 18 of the Carrsville Ruritan Club, Beaver Dam Eager Beavers, High Street Senior Citizens and past member of Kiwanis and Pythians. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent, teacher, training union leader and share group leader. He was also a member of the founding board of Isle of Wight Academy. He is survived by his wife of 61-and-a-half years, Alma Ruth Vaughan Rideout; three sons and one daughter, Robert W. Rideout of Richmond, Benjamin Rideout of Franklin, C. Bruce Rideout of Suffolk. Ruth R. Whitley of Franklin, six grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Melvin Rideout of Richmond, friend Linda Blythe Brinkley, nieces and nephews. Services were held at Holland-Rideout. Funeral Home, 1001 Amory Drive, Franklin. Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 26.
