He was a rural letter carrier, U.S. Postal Service. He is survive by his wife, Kathryn Pittman Saunders of Ivor; two daughters, Mrs. Richard K. Wheawill of Waverly and Miss Mary Katherine Saunders of Ivor; a son, A. Walter Saunders, Jr. of Ivor: a brother, Leander T. Saunders, Jr. of Warrenton; a sister, Mrs. Joseph H. James, Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 P.M. in the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Ivor Cemetery.
