Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth (Sally / Sallie) Stephenson 1878 - 1957 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Sarah S. Atkins WINDSOR, Sept. 19 - Mrs. Sarah Stephenson Atkins, 79, died today at 10:50 a.m. at Obici Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of Robert Wellons Atkins of Windsor and a daughter of James Edwin Stephenson and Mary Griffith Stephenson of Isle of Wight County. She is survived by three sons, Robert Stephenson Atkins of Goldsboro, N. C., George Griffith Atkins of Rocky Mount, N. C., and Eugene W. Atkins of Windsor, and two granddaughters, Sarah Catherine Atkins of Rocky Mount, N. C., and Mary Jean Atkins of Windsor. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church and was for years organist of the church. She served as treasurer of the church for 17 years, as Sunday School teacher, as chairman of the memorial flowers committee and as a member of the finance committee. She was one of the organizers and a past president of the Woman's Missionary Society and was a charter member of the Windsor Woman's Club and was active in C civic affairs of the community. Funeral services will be ducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Windsor Baptist Church by the Rev. B. A. Riddle, pastor, and the Rev. J. Sydney Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
