Mr. James Thomas Story Jr., age 86, a lifelong resident of Newsoms died Sunday September 17, 1995 at Southampton Memorial Hospital Franklin. Mr. Story was the son of the late James Thomas Sr. and Lillie Holloman Story.

He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a member and trustee of the Newsoms United Methodist Church, served as Mayor of Newsoms for eight years and on the Newsoms Town Council for thirty-four years. He was a former member of the Board of Dominion National Bank and a charter member of the Newsoms Ruritan. He was also a former member of the Newsoms Hunt Club. He was a retired merchant and farmer. He operated the Story Supply Co. in Newsoms from the early 1930s until he retired in 1975. 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Nellie Worrell Story, two sons; James Thomas Story III of Houston, TX, Lewis Edward Story of Greensboro, NC, two sisters; Kathryn Story of Boykins, Mrs. Gene Icard of Sarasota, FL; two granddaughters Jennifer Story of Greensboro, NC, Alison Story of Houston, TX; three grandsons James Story of North Olmsted, OH, Lewis Story Jr. of Greensboro, NC, and James Thomas Story IV of Houston, TX. He was predeceased by four sisters; Elsie S. O'Berry, Lucille S. Drewry, Ethlyn S. Prince, and Mildred S. Coleman. 

Graveside funeral services will be held at Hollywood Cemetery Newsoms on Wednesday September 20, 1995 at 2:00 pm by Rev. Derek Koolman and Rev. Kenneth Williams. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home Boykins Tuesday September 19, 1995 pm.
