Robert Story Obituary Robert Lee Story November 16, 1943 - May 31, 2023 Nags Head, NC - Robert Lee Story died May 31, 2023 in Chesapeake General Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, as well as a good neighbor and friend. He was born in Franklin and grew up in the Beaverdam Church area of Isle of Wight County. Bob was predeceased by his parents Jack Thomas and Victoria Ferguson Story, brother Jack Jr., sister Susan Bunch, and beloved son Robert Trent. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ann Marks Story, his treasured granddaughters Mary Ann and Victoria Leigh, two brothers Victor (Debbie) and Gene (Ruth Ann), and nieces and nephews. Bob loved NASCAR, playing cards with his buddies, following the stock market, a good cigar but mostly supporting his granddaughters in their activities. He was a graduate of Windsor High and attended Chowan College. In August of 1969, he began work at Angus I. Hines and retired as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 2005. Bob served in the Virginia National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. Before the move to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Bob supported and was a member of many organizations in Franklin: Beaverdam Baptist Church, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Hunt Club, Cypress Cove Country Club, and Franklin Jaycees. His professional affiliations included Virginia Oil Jobbers Association, Virginia Oil Mens Association, Virginia NACS- PAC Captain, Phillip Morris Trade Council and was awarded the esteemed Thomas Jefferson Award given by R. J Reynolds. Services will be held at four o’clock Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Wright Funeral Home in Franklin followed by reception at the American Legion Hall.
