Darden Mrs. Pattie Watkins Darden, aged 70, well-known resident of Franklin, died Monday after an illness of a few hours. Mrs. Darden was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and was the widow of Robert Eley Darden of Franklin, and daughter of the late D. J. and Rebecca Moore Watkins of Southampton County. Surviving her are three daughters: Mrs. Rebecca Darden Stone of Suffern, N.Y.; Mrs. Pattie Lee Darden Worthy of Mahwah, N.J.; Miss Mary Watkins Darden of Norfolk; one son, Robert E. Darden, Jr., of Orangeburg, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Watkins Kase of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, George Watkins of Franklin; and one grandchild. Services were conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the Franklin Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. R. D. Stephenson. Organist Hal J. Lyon assisted with the musical portion of the service, and Joel C. Holland sang “Just As I Am.” Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, a pall of white chrysanthemums, red roses, and maidenhair fern being used. Pallbearers were C. C. Vaughan III, P. R. Camp, Ellsworth Jones, Hugh D. Camp, J. Fenton Matthews, Dr. J. P. Broaddus, and J.
