King COMO, N.C.—Mrs. Stella Whitley King, 82, died Monday [13 March 1972] in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, after a brief illness. A native of Southampton County, Va., she lived in the Como community most of her life. She was the widow of George Hinchey King and a daughter of Henry Whitley of Hertford County and Mrs. Laura Harcum of Southampton County. She was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dana Dunning of Murfreesboro; a brother, Floyd Whitley of Boykins, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Laura W. Pope and Mrs. Mary W. Pope of Suffolk, Mrs. Susie W. Vaughan of Potecasi, Mrs. Rosa W. Burgess of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Bessie W. Whitehead of Ahoskie; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday [16 March 1972] at 2 p.m. in Buckhorn Baptist Church by the Rev. Terry Jones of Meherrin Baptist Church.
