Welcome to Historical Southern Families (or HSF) on the reference desk of the Southampton Transcription Project.

HSF is a collection of genealogies covering a broad spectrum of Southern families compiled by the late John Bennett Boddie. Mr. Boodie was a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists and widely recognized for the quality of his research and his numerous authoritative contributions to the field of genealogy. HSF was compiled by by his wife.

Each book in the 23 volume set volume contains a number of genealogies running from a few pages to as many as several dozen or more. Here we collect those those most germane to Southampton County and near-by localities.
